Introduction

Daytona State College's School of Cosmetology program is performance-based and will help you develop the general knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and skills required for employment in your chosen discipline. Incorporated into the curricula is hands-on lab participation to help you create subject mastery. Mission

The mission of the Cosmetology program is to prepare students for a career in the field of hair, skin, and nails through fundamental concepts and techniques. We encourage our students to develop their creative potential to be successful in their chosen fields.

Description

The program provides the student with the technical knowledge and skills necessary for entry-level employment in the cosmetology field. The curriculum incorporates the industry's most advanced training and educational systems. Students learn state-of-the-art techniques for cutting, styling, creative hair coloring, skin care treatment, and much more. Specialized classroom activities include intensive studies of cosmetology law, ethics, cosmetic chemistry, hair styling, manicure/pedicure, salon management, and other information related to the occupation. Skill and technical knowledge are acquired through planned, supervised lab activities. Students use hair mannequins to perform initial exercises and cosmetic services upon clients in the college salon.
