Upon successful completion of the study program students receive an international private Master in International Management (MIM) degree with a specialization in Hospitality Management, awarded by the school's main campus in Zurich, Switzerland, based on the recommendation of the faculty of the local campuses where credits were earned, and upon the recommendation of the school's Academic Council.

Established to meet the growing needs of both the domestic and inbound tourism industries in Japan, JIU Faculty of Tourism is one of only a handful of faculties in Japan dedicated to tourism and hospitality studies.

The Graduate School of Tourism Sciences, established in 2009, is the newest graduate school in the University. The main characteristic of the graduate school is its unique educational programs that allow graduate students to acquire interdisciplinary and specialized knowledge about tourism. The education framework of our graduate school is based on the core value of “sustainability”. Before selecting a specific field of specialization, students learn the basics of the three main fields of tourism: tourism business, tourism development, and tourism resource management. This trains students to develop the ability to examine tourism studies from a specialized and multidisciplinary approach. The graduate school also conducts classes on Okinawa, which is a leading tourist destination in Japan. The aim of our graduate school is to cultivate human resources that can lead tourism in Okinawa, Japan, and around the globe, so as to realize the goal of making Japan a truly tourism-oriented country. In addition, our school hopes to nurture prospective leaders who will be able to power mutual understanding internationally and stimulate both national and local economies in the future.

A major feature of this faculty is that you can participate not only in internships in Japan but also overseas study trips (London) and internships (London-a major Japanese travel agency). Students with such experience will be responsible for the tourism industry in Japan in the future.

The "tourism business" is expected to be the fastest-growing business toward 2020. Students in the School of Tourism and Management will learn basic knowledge about tourism business management, and also learn knowledge and practices of tourism from a broad perspective. Society places a high expectation on the tourism industry to stimulate the economy and to create jobs, and universities are expected to train and secure professionals who can play management roles in the industry. We aim to foster human resources who have the knowledge and hospitality required in the tourism industry and can demonstrate their tourism management skills and community building skills in the industry.

The Graduate School of Tourism is Japan’s first graduate school where students can study and research specialist knowledge relating to tourism. With the increasing societal role and influence of tourism, the need has arisen in Japan and internationally to develop scholars and educators with advanced knowledge relating to tourism who can academically analyze how tourism should be in the future. The Graduate School of Tourism (Graduate Program in Tourism) consists of a master’s program and a doctoral program. The objective of the master’s program is to link the latest research findings in the field of tourism to the academic guidance of students and build a foundation to cultivate the tourism scholars needed at home and abroad. In the doctoral program, the objective is to cultivate the next generation of specialist educators and scholars in the field of tourism. Travel and tourism continue to expand beyond national borders, resulting in a growing demand for qualified individuals who can thrive in a multicultural, multilingual environment. The hospitality management track prepares students to achieve their potential in a career in the ever-changing hospitality and tourism industry as a tour conductor, member of hotel or restaurant staff, or another professional in a related capacity.

In addition, in order to become a tourism professional, we have programs for acquiring "Travel Business Handling Manager" qualifications, improving English skills such as TOEIC, and various study abroad programs.
