The Bachelor in Russian Philology programme is open to candidates with no Russian proficiency. Learning of the Russian language shall commence upon the student’s admission. Studies with a perfect balance of language and literature also provide knowledge of Slavic culture and ties between Russian literature and culture and Lithuania.

Not only is the following study programme based on common linguistic studies in English, but also on practically applied English Philology studies, and aims to prepare competent specialists in linguistics, who shall be able to apply linguistic knowledge and communicative competences in a creative manner when interacting in two foreign languages. The programme may be viewed as highly relevant: due to Lithuania‘s geo-political position and peculiarities of the labour market, it is necessary to have specialists fluent in two foreign languages, as well as possess fundamental linguistic knowledge and high-level communication skills.

The aim of the study program is to train specialists who are able to communicate correctly in the professional English language; appropriately use the professional terms of management spheres and public communication; organize and manage internal and external communication of an enterprise in Lithuanian and English; develop and assess information products; broaden and sustain intercultural communication and cooperation; shape the image of an organization in the Lithuanian and foreign languages; apply various strategies of integrated communication; flexibly respond to market changes; and adapt to evolving conditions of the environment.

The German Philology programme is open to candidates who are already proficient in German, as well as complete beginners. They will study in two separate groups for the first 3 semesters. From the 4th semester, beginners will attend the same courses as the more advanced students. The program offers students the solid written and spoken communication skills required for workplace success in German (C1–C2), as well as a knowledge of the fundamentals of German linguistics, literature and the culture of the German-speaking countries. The curriculum includes a diverse range of course units that are designed to help students to develop their language skills, including the advanced writing, speaking and research skills needed to become successful. The students will also acquire a range of soft skills by cultivating their analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving and rhetorical abilities while gaining a knowledge of culture and history, which will allow them to understand the complex modern world of today.

For students needing to advance their English language skills, SMK offers English Foundation. The duration of the program is one or, if needed, two semesters. After completing the program you will bring your language level to the upper intermediate level which is required to study at SMK. The program is available every semester starting Fall and Spring and is delivered full-time.

The programme is designed to develop the student’s written and spoken communication skills in English (C1) and German (B2-C1) which are essential for a successful career. The curriculum includes a variety of courses that are aimed at helping students develop their language skills, as well as advanced skills in the fields of linguistic research and intercultural communication.

The program offers students the solid written and spoken communication skills required for workplace success in Spanish (C1), as well as a knowledge of the fundamentals of Spanish linguistics, literature and the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. The curriculum includes a diverse range of course units that are designed to help students develop their language skills, including the advanced writing, speaking and research skills needed to become successful.

The aim of the programme is to train specialists having interdisciplinary educational background – linguists, who are familiar with English and another foreign language (German, French) business discourse, have competences in subject-specific terminology and business communication, are able to solve business information and communication tasks that are related to the establishment and management of modern businesses, and are able to conduct scientific research in linguistics.
