The Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer (AA-T in Kinesiology) is designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU institution for students who plan to transfer and complete a CSU major or Bachelor of Kinesiology. Kinesiology courses enhance skills and physical development in combative, dance, individual and team sports, and fitness. Courses provide a foundation for understanding human anatomy and physiology. Students who complete the Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer (AA-T in Kinesiology) meet the lower-division requirements for transfer to a four-year program of study in Kinesiology.

The Associate in Arts for Transfer degree in Kinesiology provides students with the foundational knowledge necessary to make a successful transition into a Baccalaureate Degree at any of the CSU campuses. The Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) is a special degree offered at California Community Colleges. Students who earn an AA-T or AS-T degree are guaranteed admission to a campus within the California State University (CSU) system in a similar major, although not necessarily to a specific campus. Students who complete an AA-T or AS-T are given priority consideration when applying to a particular program that is similar to the student’s community college major and will be given a special GPA advantage when applying to CSU-impacted campuses or majors. Students who are planning to pursue an AA-T or AS-T are strongly advised to meet with a counselor for additional information about this transfer program.

The degree emphasis in Athletic/Personal Fitness Training prepares students to transfer to a four-year university and major in kinesiology, with an emphasis in Athletic Training or Sports Medicine. The practicum hours completed may count toward certification as an athletic trainer.

Students earning an associate degree in Sport Management will gain solid business knowledge and industry-specific skills designed to help prepare for a career in sport, including areas of intercollegiate/interscholastic athletics, professional sport, recreation/community-based organizations, corporate brands, and governing bodies/ The curriculum drives students to develop and enhance critical industry skills, including marketing, sales and revenue generation, event and facility management and business communication.

The Physical Education Department offers activities that will satisfy graduation requirements and be of carry-over value and of recreational interest to students. This program also carries service courses that may be taken as an elective for the non-major or required courses towards a major in Physical Education.
