In Taiwan, promoting internationalization is an important government policy. Promoting international sports affairs (ISA) has been one of the top priorities as the authorities concerned devoting themselves to promoting sports affairs during the internationalization process. In terms of developing sports industry, the manufacturing and marketing of sports products are crucial to the development of sports organizations. Concomitantly, along with the promotion of sports organizations, the demands for sports products shall raise.

Graduate Institute of Athletics and Coaching Science was created in 2012 following the merger between the Graduate Institute of Coaching Science (created in 1994) and Graduate Institute of Sport Training Science (created in 2003). The aim of the Institute is to foster excellent coaches and to train students studying in coaching science.

This teaching unit was established in 1988 and its original name was Department of Physical Education (a two-year program) aimed for continuing the professional education in graduates of junior physical education (PE) college, nurturing higher PE professionals, and promoting national PE development.

After established the Department of Athletic Sports in the initial stage, we also emphasize the professional development of the relevant sports domains in addition to cultivate the outstanding sports athletes and promptly combine with the currently existing software and hardware resources of National Sports Park as well as the locally unique relevant professional expertise of industries, governments, and academics, coordinately match with the developing tendencies of international sports in order to cultivate the national outstanding sports athletes and the professional talents with humanities literacy. At the same moment, we consider the social requirements of Taiwan as well as promote the professional talent cultivation of sports industry management and international competition executive capability as the vision of developments.
